ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — The pipes in your home can freeze in cold weather, leaving homeowners with no water or causing your pipes to burst, leading to expensive property damage.
While the St. John's Regional Fire Department says that the safest way to thaw frozen water pipes is to obtain the service of a qualified plumber, here's six tips the department recommends following if you choose to thaw your own pipes:

Fire officials noted that if you are unable to locate the frozen area, or if you cannot thaw the pipe, you should call a licensed plumber.
